La Paz...our destination

Yippee!  La Paz.  Arrived yesterday morning to find the slip we reserved at Palmira (palm-EE-rah) much to small for our boat.  They had one other slip available and it was next to the rock wall of the marina.  Any wind at all and we would not have been able to get out or in.  Nothing else available until next week and then of course, who knows what they would have provided.  So another marina - only one that had anything is the furthest from La Paz, CostaBaja, and has the feel of an American timeshare resort, which Ed and I were hoping to avoid.  But we'll make the best of it and it's nice to have a long shower, a hamberger and rest.  We'll be here for about a month.  Ed has some engine maintenance/work to do which won't be easy for him.  Hopefully he'll be able to get the necessary components to do the job.

Went in to check out the town a bit and find some groceries.  So far very peaceful and everyone so kind.  The town is huge and a bit disorienting, but I'm sure we'll figure it out.  Had lunch at Mariscos and couldn't finish all the shrimp they served on my dish!  Muy Bueno!
December 12 is the 'start' of their holiday season being Dia de Guadalupe.  The story of Juan Diego seeing the virgin Mary and been given proof of his vision with roses not found in the area of Mexico where a basillica was eventually built in her name (now Mexico City.)  We missed the march yesterday, where they parade into town with the male children dressed as Juan Diego.  Hopefully there will be some doings tomorrow as it often is a bigger celebration than Christmas and/or Easter.

Our grocery bill, when we shop at a Mexican mercado, is so low!  The produce is incredibly low and a bottle of tequila is only 6 american dollars.  I paid 50 cents for three tomatoes and same still for two huge grapefruits...lovin the groceries!
